The garden had been used mainly as an extended allotment for many hears and the client's wanted a prettier garden with space for colourful shrubs and perennials as well as a vegetable and fruit growing area. They wanted plenty of spaces to sit and enjoy the garden, entertain friends and family.

I created privacy by introducing height in the form of two pergolas - one over the path linking the seating area by the house and the rear of the garden, and a circular one over the smaller circular seating area which is placed to capture the evening sunshine.

The design includes raised vegetable beds which are functional, but also look attractive as part of the overall garden scheme. The walls of the vegetable beds are capped with wooden planks that act as informal seating. As you can see when I took these photos I interrupted the client enjoying a cup of coffee sitting on one of these handy benches.
